Little Athletics Tasmania have updated their Worksafe COVID-19 Safety Plan for State & Centre Meets. Please note the following requirements for this weekend’s State Multi Event Championships;

1. All State/Centre administrators, officials, volunteers and spectators are to wear face masks at all times with the following exceptions:

o Masks may be removed by Officials where necessary to enable them to carry out their duties (eg Announcers, Starters, Chief Officials if they need to call out distances etc).
o Masks may be removed by anyone eating or drinking.
o If you have a medical exemption.

2. Athletes are encouraged to wear masks wherever possible when not competing.

In each of the cases above, please ensure that you maintain physical distancing.

3. All those attending Little Athletics Tasmania Centre and State meets are required to check in at the venue using the Check In Tas app and venue QR code or using the sign in sheet provided.

4. A dedicated COVID Compliance Officer will be appointed for each meet, whose responsibility is to ensure compliance measures are being met. COVID Compliance Officers are required to wear a unique hi-visibility vest so they are easily identified.

5. Anyone feeling unwell, displaying Covid-19 symptoms or a Close contact of a current confirmed case should isolate at home and not attend events.

Next Meet – Saturday 26th November, Program 2

We will be running events at both the Twin Ovals (twin 1, the football oval) and at Gormley Park again tomorrow. As a result of the two sites, it is important that you are aware of some key information relating to tomorrows meet, this includes:

Attendance Details:

  • Tiny Tots  you will be at Twin Ovals with your program starting at 10 am.
  • U6 -U10 – you will only be at Twin Ovals, arrive for 8.30 am ready for warm ups unless you are walking (U9-10) then please be there at 8 am. U6-U8 age groups will not be doing long jump but will have two throws in an effort to avoid travelling between grounds.
  • U9-U15 Walkers – you will be starting at 8 am at the Twin Ovals.
  • U11 – U15 – you will start at Gormley Park at 8.30 am for warm up and then field events. If anyone in this age group are doing walks at 8 am then they will need to head down to Gormley directly after their race. This age group will go to Twin Ovals for track events.

House Keeping:

  • Travel Between Sites: We have taken on-board your feedback and taken steps to minimise walking between the two sites as much as possible.
  • Parking – The Knights Cricket Club has asked that we park on the high side of the car park in the first instance, leaving parking available to cricket spectators.
  • Food – the BBQ will be up at Twin Ovals and the canteen run by the Knights Cricket Club will be open for other items.
  • Extra Track Event – At the end of the meet we will run 1500 m at Twin Ovals for those that just can’t get enough running.
  • Trialling Athletes – If you are trialling, please go to the correct ground for your age group and we will mark you down.
  • Track Crew & Walks Judges – It would be appreciated if you could please be onsite and ready for an 8am start, ensuring we can get the meet underway on time and smoothly.

I would like to thank everyone for their patience, this season has had more than its share of challenges. This is expected to be our last meet at the Twin Ovals, at least in the short term. We are aiming to resume full track meets at Gormley Park next week.

Best of luck to athletes for tomorrows meet, fingers crossed that conditions will favour PB performances.

Welcome to Season 2021-22 at Kingborough Little Athletics

Hello KLAC Athletes, Parents and Guardians

I would like to share some important information before our first meet on Saturday, 9 October (tomorrow).

Venue: Due to the weather causing disruption to Gormley Park oval we will be using Lightwood 1 oval up the road from Gormley Park with parking just below the Kingborough Sports Centre Gym at the back. Older athletes will walk down to Gormley in groups to do jumps and have a throw, this will be communicated on the day but everyone will start at Lightwood 1 by 8.30 am.

Program: We need to run a modified program to make sure the athletes are safe e.g. no high jump because of slip risk. See program attached.

Tiny Tots: Tiny Tots program will start at 10 am and we ask that you arrive by 9.30 am. New Tiny Tots who are trialling please check in at the desk.

Trialling athletes: All new trialling athletes please check in at the desk – you will be given a name badge.

Returning athletes: Some name badges are now available, please go to the desk marked ‘Returning Athletes’ to get your badge or to write a temporary one

Time: Starting at 8.30 am (except for Tiny Tots) but if you want to arrive earlier that will assist with getting everyone through the administration

Food: The soccer club will open their canteen for snacks and we will be operating a BBQ serving basic sausage in bread and bacon and egg rolls.

Bring: Water bottle, sun hat, coats and anything else you think you will need for a Tassie Spring day.

Wear: Black shorts if possible and KLAC top, for trialling athletes please wear a t-shirt you are comfortable in.

Check in: Please check in using the Check in App, manual sign-in will be near the canteen.

How will it all work: Athletes will gather on the oval for a warm up led by older athletes from 8.40 am. I will do a briefing over the PA to let parents know how the day will run and any other housekeeping information.

Coaches: There will be plenty of qualified coaches helping out our athletes so they get off to the best possible start.

Love your committee: Things haven’t gone quite to plan due to weather and ground conditions, however the committee have pulled out all stops in an effort to make this meet happen. This weekends program has been modified but all events that have been dropped will be made up over the season. This is the program for this weekends meet:

Get Involved: KLAC meets happen because of family involvement, please be prepared to pull up your sleaves and assist with events. From my experience, this is the best way to take an interest and encourage your child to do their best (and have fun). It provides a front row seat and allows you to learn about the events offered and be involved. We are also looking to explore Age Group Coordinators this year, please make contact if you can assist.

Please keep an eye on Facebook, the feed also appears on the website if you don’t have that platform.

We can’t wait to get started and meet all new athletes and welcome back returning families on Saturday. Please make contact if you have any questions, otherwise we will see you and your athletes at Lightwood 1 oval at 8.30 am Saturday 9 October. Feel free to turn up earlier if you are early risers!
