You know how we’re always telling our athletes to drink more water…well now there is no excuse!

Adrian our President has been busy with the grant applications and we have been successful for two recently, one for a drink station and another for a zip boiler – no waiting for the old kettle to boil!

The drink station is thanks to the Kingborough Council Community Grants Program and special thanks go to Cr Paula Wriedt – Kingborough Mayor.

The zip boiler is thanks to the Stronger Communities Grant, Round 7 and special thanks go to Julie Collins MP and The Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources.

Without grants, and someone applying for them we couldn’t put these in place so please thank Adrian, Kingborough Mayor, Paula Wriedt and Julie Collins MP. 👏

Going to the gym? Don’t bother, come on down to Gormley there is plenty of lifting, pulling and walking to be done out in the sunshine or indoors if you prefer. There’s something for everyone!

Don’t forget you can buy new uniform ready for the start next week.

Tomorrow – Saturday, 1 October will be our annual working bee at Gormley Park. Bring your athlete as there are plenty of things to do. Someone from the Committee will be there from 10am to 2pm, so come for half an hour or hours! All our helpers will get a little thank you drink – any guesses what?

We will also be selling uniform so if you have dusted off the old one and realised it is too small, come on down and make a purchase before the start of season next week!!!!

This a a brilliant opportunity for those in the U11 age group for the 22/23 season. There is a lot of change for the U11s – using blocks, Fosbury Flop style high jump, triple jump and javelin. If your athlete can make a session, Domain is on the 12th October, we would highly recommend it, but if they can’t we will have coaches at Kingborough that can step them through the process as well.Looking for some FREE school holiday FUN???

Little Athletics Tasmania are conducting Coaching Clinics for Under 11 athletes. These sessions will cover the 4 new elements (block starts, high jump, javelin & triple jump), which are introduced in the Under 11 age group.

Coaching clinics will be held on the following days:

Monday 10th October 2022, 8.30am – 2.30pm Northern Athletic Centre
Tuesday 11th October 2022, 8.30am – 2.30pm Penguin Athletic Track
Wednesday 12th October 2022, 8.30am – 2.30pm Domain Athletic Centre

Bronze is good but Silver or Gold is Betta!

We are still on the lowest step of the dais and the Centre could really use the extra cash right at the start of season, so, think about buying Betta products with the token on the front, redeem it following the link and ta daaa, we are a step closer to Silver.

We are so close to the start of season and there are a few jobs that need to be done, so we are having a working 🐝 this Saturday, 1 October. We will be at Gormley from 10am to 2pm and would love help. Jobs range from rotary hoeing to spray painting shot puts.

Come see Lauren and purchase a new top and/or hat, there are also some name badges ready to get picked up from those who registered early 🙂

Let us know in the comments below if you are able to help so that we have jobs ready to go for you.
