Kingborough Little Athletics Centre (KLAC) is committed to developing Gormley Park as the home of Athletics in Kingborough. Striving to provide a fit of purpose venue to cater for Athletics to a high standard, meeting the needs of the community now and well into the future.
While the project is currently unfunded, beyond the design stage, we hope to achieve full funding in the near future.
Change room and toilet facilities that are accessible to all, inclusive and fit for purpose for many years into the future.
KLAC have been working hard in partnership with Kingborough Council, Inspiring Place and AKA Architects to develop the Gormley Park Precinct Plan. This is a plan, developed in consultation with other users of the space, sets out the future direction of Gormley Park, expanding upon Kingborough Councils Future Directions Plan by providing the next level of detail, ensuring a strategic approach that is feasible, planned and achievable. It clearly maps out a bright future for Gormley Park.
This plan maintains the venue as a multi-sport site, ensuring that it continues to support other sports such as Soccer and Football (training), maximising ground use while incorporating a full scale Athletics track and fit for purpose change room, toilet, administrative and training infrastructure to support not only Little Athletics but also, school and community use at the facility.
Grandstand seating that can cater for a full school athletics carnival and effective storage that provides a safe, secure means of storing essential equipment.
A full scale grass based, 10 lane sprint, 8 lane distance 400m Track that is supported by synthetic field sites that incorporate competition standard surfaces and safety infrastructure.
The inclusion of a second cricket oval with turf wicket in the Kingborough Sports Precinct, this oval would be supported by the Gormley Park facilities.
