AFL High Performance Centre & Kingborough Sports Precinct Masterplan – Community Info Sessions
Kingborough Council is inviting the community to attend upcoming information sessions on plans for the AFL High Performance Centre (HPC) and the future of the Kingborough Sports Precinct.
📍 Twin Ovals Function Centre – 35 Twin Ovals Road, Kingston
📅 Saturday, 2 August, 10am–1pm
📅 Wednesday, 6 August, 3pm–6.30pm
Information Session Description:
Come along to view the concept plan, ask questions, and hear from those involved in the project, including representatives from the Tasmania Devils, Kingborough Knights, Kingborough Tigers, Tasmania JackJumpers and the Project Team. Community members can drop in at any time, walk around freely, speak with representatives, and ask questions. There will be no formal presentations, so you can attend at a time that suits you.
What is changing:
As part of the precinct development to accommodate the HPC, some existing community facilities will be impacted by the construction of two new ovals for the Tigers and Knights teams. One new oval will be located above, and the other below the current Twin Ovals. This means we will need to relocate some existing community facilities within the precinct. Council is working closely with all affected user groups to ensure any relocations or modifications maintain or enhance current service levels and community access.
This will mean relocating some existing facilities, including:
• Kingston View Drive off-lead dog area
• Southern Obedience Club
• Kingborough Mountain Bike Park
Once a proposed location for an alternative off-lead dog exercise area has been identified, Council will initiate a formal community engagement, in accordance with the Dog Control Act 2000. This will be the opportunity for the community to provide feedback on the proposed site. PLEASE NOTE: The Kingston View Drive dog off-lead area will not be closed before January 2026.
Once the construction of the new oval for the Tigers begins, the Kingborough Mountain Bike Park will need to close due to work on the site. PLEASE NOTE: The mountain bike park will not close before January 2026. A public consultation on the design of the new park will be undertaken to ensure community feedback is considered on the design.
We look forward to seeing you at these information sessions.
