2015 CROSS COUNTRY SEASON
Southern Centre Challenge Shield
2015
Little Athletics Tasmania conducts a winter cross country season for
Southern Centres. It caters for current registered and new athletes from
U6 to U15. Athletes compete for their Centre.
SEASON
The season commences at the beginning of April and concludes in September
with the state-wide Little Athletics Cross Country Championship.
To be eligible to compete in championship events, an athlete must have
completed a minimum of three times during the cross country season.
Relay and handicap events are included during the season.
WHEN
Fortnightly on Saturday mornings – 8:30am for 9:00am start. However,
please consult the season calendar closely as there are some exceptions to
this rule!
Most meets finish within an hour. Some assistance during the season to
help with the running of an event is greatly appreciated.
WHERE
Meetings are held over various courses in locations around the greater
Hobart area. Some courses are bushland, some are sandy, others muddy – all
are fun!
This season’s calendar of events has been published in the 2014-15 Little
Athletics Information Manual (page 94) and on the main website
www.xcsouth.org.
DISTANCES
Athletes compete over the following distances:
U6/7: 800m
U8: 1000m
U9/U10: 1500m
U11/12: 2000m
U13/14/15: 3000m
WHY
Because it is fun! This is a great way to enjoy running during the winter
months. It can help with your preparations for the next season of track
and field or other winter sports.
And its great fun with a friend!
HOW MUCH
The cost for the whole winter season is $15.00 per athlete, payable on the
first day an athlete competes. Any new children not registered with Little
Athletics Tasmania will need to pay an additional registration fee of
$20.00.
Alternatively, a trial can be had for $3.00 before registration is
required.

Welcome to Kingborough Little Athletics 2014-15 Season
Our first meet for the summer season is scheduled for 4 October 2014.
Kingborough Council are working around the clock to make sure Gormley Park will be ready in time, but please check back here or keep an eye on our Facebook page to make sure we have the all clear to use the ground on that day.
In the unfortunate event that the meet is cancelled it will be rescheduled for later in the year.
New Athletes Come and Try
Little Athletics allows you to come and try for two meets before having to become a registered athlete. So come and join us at one of our meets and give it a go. Remember to wear comfortable clothes, shoes for running and a hat, and bring a drink bottle, a parent and a big smile. A canteen and BBQ are available.
Registration
For 2014-15 the registration process is entirely online through the Little Athletics Tasmania registration portal. Previous families registered with a current email address will be emailed directly by LATas with login details to streamline the registration process.

Family discounts are only available if you pay in person at the Gormley Park clubrooms. Payment methods are CASH, CHEQUE and EFTPOS. The Centre will absorb the merchant fees if you pay by EFTPOS.
To register online please follow this link to the Registration Portal.
PPlease note that registration will be incomplete until payment has been received in full.
