Changes to Rules of Competition 2015-16

Little Athletics Australia member states will now all subscribe to the same Standard Events and Rules for Competition. Events may change from State to State, but minimum age groups and fixed competition rules will apply to each rule, event or competition respectively.

The following changes have been introduced this season:

Spikes

Competitors in the U11 age group may wear spike shoes in events run entirely in lanes, long jump and triple jump.

Competitors in the U12-U15 age groups may also wear spikes in high jump and javelin.

Competitors in the U13-U15 age groups may also wear spikes in events NOT run entirely in lanes, except walks.

Spike lengths remain 7mm for synthetic track, 9mm for jumps and javelin. 12mm spikes allowed for grass.

Blocks are not compulsory for any athlete, except on synthetic tracks when spikes are worn for distances up to 400m.

If you are purchasing spikes, please make sure you have the appropriate length spikes for all conditions.

Javelin and Turbo Jav

Javelin will only be offered at State Events from U11 upwards.

Turbo Jav will be offered from U8-U10. Records will remain published for U10 Javelin, and new records will appear for U10 Turbo.

High Jump

High jump will no longer be offered as a State event for U8.

Scissor technique will be compulsory for U9 and U10.

Triple Jump
Triple jump will not to be offered at State Events for U6 and U7.

Volunteers and Working With Children Check

It is a requirement of Little Athletics Tasmania that all volunteers who have regular contact with children undertake a Working with Children Check (WWCC) registration.

The registration aims to reduce the potential for sexual, physical, psychological, emotional or financial harm or neglect of children in Tasmania.

You must hold registration to participate in activities such as age group management, committee membership, and coaching.

Registration is lodged online at www.justice.tas.gov.au, and reimbursement of the associated volunteer fees may be provided by the Centre. If you are unsure if you require a WWCC please contact Angela Korotki, by email through this link, email Secretary.
