Southern Life Members Centre Challenge Day

This annual event is run by Little Athletics Tasmania and provides an opportunity for athletes from different Southern Centres to compete against each other at the Domain Athletics Centre.

The Centres compete for the perpetual shield and particiapte in an athlete march at the conclusion of the day.

The Challenge Day is designed to reward participation and improvement against athlete's individual PB's. Each athlete receives points for participating in events, and the Centre receives points based on an average of how many athletes attend the Challenge Day. This ensures that smaller Centres can compete without being disadvantaged.

Athletes must compete in the full Centre uniform, and the name and sponsors badges must be sewn on the shirt. Infrigement notices may be issued to those that participate without the correct uniform. Multiple infringement notices can lead to disqualification from further State conducted events for the remainder of the season.

At the Challenge Day athletes compete in the following events:

Parents assist in the running of the day through the provision of rostered field site or track duties. Competent parents are nominated for officials duties. All new parents are paired with experienced parents in field crews.

Officials can also benefit by receiving mentoring from other officials during the day.  It is important that parents nominate early so that mentors can be organised prior to the event.
